Hello, I am an international student from Vietnam. I’ve come across Korean music and TV dramas through various media ever since I was young, so I got interested in Korean culture. I wanted to see and experience it for myself, so I came to Korea to study abroad as soon as I graduated high school, half excited and half nervous, without hesitation. I wanted to experience Korean culture more than anyone, so I participated in more than 60 hours of volunteer work while attending university and even donated blood for the first time in Korea. These moments were all because I love Korea. It’s been five years since I lived in Korea. Living in Korea made me want to stay there. Participating in this contest, I wished to highlight the positive images of Korea from the perspective of a foreigner by creatively portraying various aspects of the country. Through stories of Korean citizens, welfare, and places, I’d like to let many people know about the uniqueness of Korea and emphasize the importance of urban regeneration and community. Moreover, by delivering a reinterpretation of Korea’s long history and culture in a modernized way, I wish to propose new ideas for a sustainable future by incorporating eco-friendly technology and artistic expression. With this opportunity, I hope to contribute to Korea’s future development and feel proud of participating in a young communal society. I promise to dedicate myself to Korean culture and the economic globalization of Korea. Additionally, I hope there will be more contests to promote Korean culture. Thank you so much for reading this long review even if it was awkwardly written.

Participation in the Shorts contest was an incredible experience. Managing a creative idea in a short time under a given subject and expressing it in the format of a video was challenging but fun at the same time. Bringing my ideas into reality was more difficult than I thought, but I was able to learn about new technology and tools through the process. Thinking up an effective storyline in a short time was the biggest challenge. Through this experience, I became more interested in video production and gained confidence in creative problem-solving with limited time and resources. Participation in the Shorts contest was a valuable experience and I look forward to more challenges and achievements in the future.

Our team is a newlywed couple who just got married in the summer of this year. We would like to describe ourselves as “passionate” and “lovely.” Participating in this contest, we thought about what would show the charm of Korea. At first, we were planning on filming a video about K-pop since we both were interested in it. However, Eunpyeong Hanok Village was nearby, and we agreed to introduce it instead. It’s an amazing place, but not known to many people. We also thought it would be especially good to introduce to foreigners after learning more about hanok in the hanok museum. We thought an English script for the introduction would be better so that many foreigners could watch. It was a precious experience to get to know about the history of hanok through the explanation of the hanok museum curator (though this wasn’t included in the video). Thank you to the Korea Foundation and the Secretariat for giving us such a precious opportunity. We also thank all the participants of this contest. We hope we’ll be able to meet up with all participants both in and outside of Korea.

I like watching the scenery while riding my bicycle. Going around from place to place, I’ve realized there are a lot of beautiful places in Korea. Recently, I participated in the KF’s Public Diplomacy Week events held in Seongsu-dong and learned that there was a YouTube Shorts contest. I usually record the beautiful scenery by taking photos or videos anyway, so I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce beautiful bike roads in Korea. It wasn’t easy to edit videos to fit the music, but I enjoyed being passionate in each and every frame. It feels great to finish creating the video and now I’m thinking about creating more videos sometime in the future. Thank you for giving me such a great opportunity! :)

Not long ago, I got interested in video editing; it was great to participate in this contest, which was such a good opportunity. The topics of other contests were either complicated or limited, but I liked how the 7707 YouTube Shorts Video Contest allowed participants to choose whatever they wanted to do between a free topic and a designated topic! It was unfortunate that I couldn’t spend more time on the video as I learned about the contest too late and the preparation period overlapped with my exam period. Though it was for a short time, I was able to appreciate the beauty of Korea as I created my video. I also realized the skills that I lacked in video editing. If there’s a video contest like this in the future, I hope I’ll be able to prepare better and make a high-quality video.

Recently, Korea has attracted the world’s attention more than ever for its culture and technology. To be part of that popularity, I became a YouTuber to promote Korea. I imitated some clumsy ASMR channels, became a Korean teacher, and did a Korean food-eating show. I got tired and eventually gave up after opening and closing five channels, since there were fewer subscribers and revenue than I’d anticipated. However, it was a heartfelt experience feeling the global love towards Korea. I was afraid to submit my simple video after seeing the high-quality videos uploaded on the 7707 channel. However, I uploaded my video all the same, hoping the small skills I’d accumulated during the preparation would match the overall direction of the channel. It was once considered unlikely, but Korea is becoming Asia’s first multi-racial and multi-cultural country. It seems like the era of interchange and living together, rather than loving Korea from afar, has arrived. I believe the Korea Foundation will play a more crucial role in this time of transition.

Participating in the contest was an incredibly enriching experience for me. I gained valuable insights into shooting videos and photos, honed my editing skills, and even delved into the realm of music recording. The entire process was not only educational but also immensely enjoyable. Capturing the essence of South Korea was a fulfilling challenge, and I appreciated the opportunity to showcase the beauty of the country through my work. The contest provided a platform for me to not only express my creativity but also to learn and grow as a multimedia enthusiast. I eagerly look forward to future contests that allow me to continue exploring and showcasing my skills. The prospect of more opportunities to spotlight the unique charm of South Korea while refining my abilities is something I am genuinely excited about. Overall, the contest was a fantastic journey, and I can't wait to participate in more events like this in the future.

It was my first time participating in a video contest. I was satisfied with the quality of the video, but on the other hand, I was also disappointed because I could have done better. I usually film myself doing cover songs on YouTube, but recently, I got to know and collaborated with video editing experts. There was an absolute improvement in the quality of the video that the experts oversaw, compared to when I edited, played, sang, and filmed at the same time. It was great to play the gayageum, which I studied for a long time when I was young, and I would like to thank my parents for letting me practice it back then. I hope the gayageum gains global attention since the sound of this instrument is always pleasing to hear.

Hello! This is the HanbokEra team! We want to thank the Korea Foundation’s YouTube channel team for organizing the best contest of 2023! We think it's important to make wonderful aspects of Korean culture known by even more people around the world! We participated in this contest because we are convinced that South Korea is a magnificent country; we love its history, language, culture, heritage, and people. We particularly love hanbok; for us, they are the most beautiful traditional clothes in the world. That's why we wanted to show the beauty of hanbok and the beauty of Korea and Korean palaces through our video entry in this contest. It was really fun to shoot the video in Korea during our recent trip and we were so happy to be able to send our love for Korea in this way! We hope many more people will love Korea and hanbok. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!

'Travel. Under the bright sun, people dressed beautifully, smiling broadly.' This is an image that comes to mind when you think of traveling. However, the trip that I can't forget is quite different from this image. It rained a lot on that trip, So I wore a raincoat with my family. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun throughout. It was a family trip to Seoul in the fall, five years ago. The reason why the joy of that trip was greater than the exhaustion caused by the rain was because of the colorful charm of Seoul. The Republic of Korea is a country full of things to see everywhere you reach. This was the reason why this trip came to mind again after seeing the free theme of the YouTube 7707 Shorts Video Contest, ""Korea's Attractiveness."" I remembered a Norwegian friend who really enjoyed Korea, saying, ""If I walk just a little, there’s a lot to enjoy, and I can do anything even if the weather isn’t good."" He said that Korea is a country full of vitality, alive in every moment. That’s just how it was. Rain has become a condition for romance in Korea, not an obstacle to travel anymore. It had been bright for several days, as if it weren’t actually autumn, and then suddenly it rained coolly. We thought, “We should start up this trip again.” We wanted to reminisce about our romantic memories. Travel routes were planned, including the newly built Donuimun Museum Village, which is in walking distance. The route from Deoksugung Palace to Donuimun Museum Village and Gwanghwamun Square. It was a route where, in just one hour on foot, you could feel the path that Korea has traveled over the past 431 years. Even on a day with inclement weather, all the foreign tourists we saw at the destination were enjoying the trip with a smile on their faces. In particular, when tourists looked at me as I flimed a video as if my family were teleporting to show the distance between each tourist destination, they showed a little more interest. We were a little embarrassed because we weren't used to filming and appearing in videos. However, it must have been an active moment for them to enjoy in Korea. I hope that if our video made in this way is released on the KF's YouTube channel, it will be able to convey more joy. While producing the video, we felt the charm of Korea again. Korea is a country that will never stop having things to see, enjoy, and feel. There are still many charms to be shown throughout Korea. However, it was a shame that this was the only content we could contain in this short video. We hope travel shorts will become a kind of “challenge,” and more people will enjoy them and feel the charm of Korea. So on a rainy day, we hope that people who are traveling to Korea will have unforgettable memories in their hearts like our own family, as we engraved those romantic memories once again. We are grateful for the opportunity to retrace these memories.

From the moment I decided to join, the excitement of exploring traditional Korean flavors within the constraints of vegan ingredients fueled my enthusiasm. For someone who is enthusiastic about plant-based living, the challenge of incorporating vegan ideas into Korean food was enjoyable. Experimenting with different ways to replace meat, dairy, and other animal products without sacrificing the flavor profile of traditional Korean recipes was exciting. This competition challenged my culinary skills and inspired me to consider flavor characteristics creatively. It took me research and imagination to create my own original vegan dish. To replicate the dish's visual appeal, I experimented with various protein sources, thought of creative ways to employ the basic ingredients, and played around with bright, plant-based colors. I perfected the recipe to achieve a balance between originality and authenticity through countless trials. Beyond the boundaries of my kitchen, taking part in the YouTube contest was a rewarding experience. It was a discovery of taste, an artistic celebration, and a chance to interact with like-minded people who are passionate about veganism and Korean cooking. The contest became a mutual appreciation for plant-based Korean food and a celebration of creativity and diversity in the vegan cooking world.

It was fun to create a video as seniors over 60 years of age, who wrote the scenario, filmed, and edited the video by ourselves. Moreover, it was even more important since it was an environment-related video. Nowadays, we are feeling diverse disasters due to the abnormal climate. We participated in the contest to let people know that small actions such as “plogging” and carrying around reusable tumblers are the start of saving the Earth.

I created a short video that shows the charm of Korea through this contest. In a short time, I thought about how to express the charm of Korea in a fun way. I enjoyed the time I spent making the video and felt great after finishing it! I hope the people who watch the video will feel the charm of Korea.

I realized the process of capturing impressions of Korea may be Korea itself. It’s small, yet it has everything! Even though I couldn’t capture everything, I tried my best to capture a short but fierce image in the video. Thanks to this contest I was able to look back on my thoughts about Korea. Thank you for this precious opportunity.

First, I appreciate that there’s a contest we can participate in with freedom in terms of style and topic. Nowadays, in our daily lives, it’s easy to forget about one’s country and city. However, I was able to catch my breath through an opportunity like this contest. Thank you.

Though there were many difficulties, it was fun to think about ways to make better videos with my friends. Without an opportunity like this contest, we wouldn’t have been able to experience this time creating videos among friends. Thank you for letting us have such a precious experience.

First of all, I would like to thank the Korea Foundation for holding this contest. I am happy to have taken part in this contest because I like making short videos. While editing the video, it made me miss Korea. I haven't been able to explore many places in Korea at the moment. I'll go back there after saving up, haha. Registering for this contest was very easy: just fill in your personal data and upload the video and the required description. Maybe because of an error or bug, I couldn’t use the space bar, so I combined my name without spaces. It's okay – it's still my name. I can show proof of passport or ID, haha (kidding). When I asked about the contest too, the staff responded quite clearly and quickly. I really enjoyed participating in this contest. Hopefully there will be more next year.
